London, 19th November 2019

Mayfair 101 portfolio company Accloud, the technology firm focused on empowering micro-SMEs through its cloud-based business services platform, is delighted to announce that its Founder and CEO Ross James was yesterday honoured for his work supporting the growth and development of Indian SMEs at the annual Global Business Dinner hosted by the Indo-European Business Forum (IEBF).

Mr. James collected the award at the event on Monday 18th November, with the IEBF highlighting his work with Accloud as an example of how business can establish a clear social purpose, focused on improving the lives of those in the communities it operates in.

Accloud’s technology is helping small businesses to formalise their processes and connect to a wider market of partners and customers, in many cases for the first time. The IEBF also cited Mr. James’s establishment of the Ernie James Academy, an initiative providing direct assistance to schoolgirls from the poorest families across India through a school scholarship programme.

The event, held at the House of Lords, brought together UK and Indian ministers along with influential members of the non-resident Indian community, seeking to forge and maintain partnerships between India and the UK. It is part of an annual series of Global Business Meetings held at the House of Lords since 2013, enabling the exchange of ideas between top corporates, business leaders and eminent personalities from India, the UK and the European Union.

This year’s event focused on ‘Business Opportunities in New India – 5 trillion-dollar economy by 2024-25’, reflecting India’s Prime Minister Modi’s ambition to reach this milestone by the end of his second term.

In conjunction with Prime Minister Modi’s Digital India programme and local distribution partners, Accloud is currently distributing its suite of multi-language business tools widely across the Indian business landscape.

Ross James, Founder and CEO of Accloud, commented:

I’m incredibly proud to be honored with this award which I share with the whole Accloud team helping us to improve lives through our corporate strategy and initiatives such as the Ernie James Academy.

Accloud is still in its early stages of growth as we roll out our mobile-first business services across India, but we are pleased that the impact of these tools to India’s entrepreneurs and micro-SMEs is already being recognised. We are relentless in our pursuit of empowering small business owners with the tools they need to grow sustainable and prosperous businesses. In turn, our vision is that this will support local job creation, boosting social prosperity and as a result national GDP as a whole.

“With the development of the country’s digital infrastructure under the Digital India programme and by continuing to work closely with our partners here in the UK and in India, we are confident that Accloud’s platform will to open up opportunities for trade and commerce across India.”

Sunil Kumar Gupta, organiser of the event on behalf of IEBF, commented:

“It was a pleasure to host such a special event at such an exciting time in India’s rapid economic development. The ambition and supporting initiatives the Indian government has put in place to achieve its target for India to be the third largest economy in the world by 2024-25 offers huge opportunities for investment and improvement.

The strong historic ties between the UK and India facilitate a mutual understanding of the importance of coupling this economic growth with social progress, and we are delighted to have companies like Accloud supporting us on that journey. “
